HTTP Welcomes and Congratulates Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson

HTTP welcomes the confirmation of the newest member of the Supreme Court . . . Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. This is a historic move for the Judiciary as Justice Jackson is the first Black woman on the Supreme Court.

Although her nomination is tech-adjacent, it will surely have a tidal effect on the ways laws impact underrepresented communities (like the ones we advocate for here at HTTP). There is overwhelming data that shows that diverse perspectives help remove historical blindspots and propel organizations, like the Supreme Court, forward.

Personally, as a law student, Justice Jackson’s confirmation is encouraging. She will have an important influence on how the Judiciary interprets important and pressing constitutional issues. Justice Jackson, although a steady-handed judge in her career, will undoubtedly interpret these issues through the lens of her life experiences as a Black woman.

The way she will address these issues will also influence lower courts across the country. HTTP welcomes and congratulates her on her bipartisan confirmation and celebrates this historic milestone.
